FFL Transfers

An FFL transfer refers to the process of transferring ownership of a firearm through a licensed firearms dealer who holds a Federal Firearms License (FFL). This process is required to ensure that firearm transactions comply with federal, state, and local laws.

When is an FFL transfer needed?

Online Firearm Purchases: If you buy a firearm online (e.g., from an online retailer or auction site), the firearm cannot be shipped directly to you. It must be sent to an FFL dealer in your state, who will handle the legal transfer process.

Private Party Sales: Private party gun sales in Oregon require a criminal background check.

Interstate Sales or Transfers: If a firearm is purchased or transferred across state lines, federal law requires the transfer to go through an FFL dealer in the buyer’s state of residence.

FFL Transfer Terms

  • You MUST be a member of Tri-County Gun Club in good standing to utilize this service.
  • Once we receive this information from you, we will contact the shipper and send them a copy
of the Tri-County Gun Club FFL.
  • Once the firearm ships you MUST contact TCGC at ffl@tcgc.org and notify us of the carrier and
the tracking number for the package.
  • Notification will be sent to the email you’ve given above when the firearm arrives.
  • If you are denied, the firearm will be sent back to the shipper at your cost.
  • If you are delayed the firearm will be kept at TCGC until the delay is updated to proceed, or until such time that TCGC determines a different action.
  • A charge of $20 for each addition firearm over the first two will be assessed as a service charge.
  • Note: There is a $20 transaction fee for up to two firearms plus the $10 background check fee per transaction.
